True to the Audi slogan “Vorsprung durch Technik” ("Ahead through Technology"), the luxurious A8 D3 pioneered a wide range of innovations, including everything from self-levelling adaptive air suspension to high-speed optic-fibre connectivity. The halogen version features a H7 reflector, which produces an average light beam even when new. In many cases, its light output has been further compromised as bulb heat and general ageing cause the reflective layer to peel off.
Bi-xenon setups feature a 3.0-inch projector designed in the late 90s, which is known to lose its reflective layer right to the point where it becomes black inside, causing dangerously low light output.
